AMS Soil Recovery Auger for easy sample recovery

The AMS soil recovery auger (SRA) is easy to convert from a soil auger to a sample recovery tool. Use the hollow cap for a regular soil auger. In this configuration you can auger holes from the surface to your desired depth. When in use as a regular soil auger, liners are not necessary. When your desired sample depth is reached, simply remove the hollow cap, clean out the remaining soil, insert a liner, install the solid cap and place the auger back down the hole. When the solid cap is in place, any soil that may sluff off from the top or sides of the hole is prevented from entering the cylinder, and will not contaminate your sample. After taking the sample, lift the SRA to the surface, and remove its solid cap, then the liner. Cap the liner for collection of a discrete soil sample that can be transported to a lab for analysis.

Dual purpose auger it collects samples at the same time. The AMS Soil Recovery auger (SRA) is a special dual purpose tool that allows the augering of an access hole to the sampling point followed by the collection of a sample in a liner. This versatile sample collection system can be used for soil profiling, particle distribution and environmental site investigations. Includes: SRA cylinder with either tungsten carbide hard surfaced carbon steel or stainless steel bits, a hollow stainless steel top cap with a bail attached and a stainless steel solid vented top cap, plastic liner, plastic end caps and a universal slip wrench. Available in stainless steel.
Stainless steel bits are not hard surfaced.


Features:
AMS soil recovery auger cylinders are constructed of 300 stainless steel.
Bits come as either carbon steel with tungsten carbide hard surfacing or stainless steel.
Compatible with the AMS 5/8" threaded extensions and cross handles, sold separately.
The liners used are 1/4" smaller in diameter than the sampler cylinder.
Protective sealing helps reduce the loss of volatile compounds.
Smooth finish for easy decontamination.
Specially shaped auger bits cut and lift the soil into the liner, rather than tearing through the soil.
Easier sample removal resulting from access holes 3/8" to 3/4" larger than the liner diameter.

Note: for environmental applications the sample collected will be disturbed and may not be suitable for some subsequent VOC analysis.
