Product Description
The patented AMS Retract-A-Tip was designed as a survey tool for the collection of discrete soil gas samples. It is used with AMS GVP Extensions, sample tubing, and slide hammer attachment, or any electric rotary hammer with a suitable adapter. The hardened stainless steel tip is designed to open when the extensions are pulled back a few inches. In the open position, the Retract-A-Tip will allow the collection of a soil gas sample when a vacuum is applied to the sample delivery tube. This may be repeated at different depths for as many samples as needed. The complete probe may then be recovered.
The Retract-A-Tip may also be used for the collection of shallow groundwater samples less than 25' from the surface. Connect a water trap to the sample delivery tube and apply a vacuum to the other side of the trap. Gas detection instruments, PID's, FID's with a positive displacement sampling pump may be connected to the AMS Retract-A-Tip sample tube to obtain a direct reading of the contaminant levels.
